Midnight Magnolias Book 15
by P. Mattern
“Not all wishes should come true!”
After the surviving vampires and humans of Perriginne County Virginia return from serving in the Spanish-American War, they are welcomed home as heroes and life returns to some semblance of normal.
But that doesn’t last long.
An ancient evil that both the Teechams and the Venificus Clave have been aware of for some time will soon escape the confines of an old abandoned well, located in the far corner of a meadow on Magnolia Plantation.
It is located on about three acres of property bordered by hand-hewn stone fencing and dubbed ‘The Forbidden Meadow’ because for some reason, nothing but tangled underbrush, Blackthorn, and Firethorn will grow there, no birds can be heard singing, and no animals ever make their burrows in that forlorn place.
There is one small gate located in the extensive stone wall, and one narrow path through the thorny overgrowth that leads to a small clearing, the remains of a cabin and the well.
Visitors riding or walking up the road toward Magnolia Manor, especially after dark, often reported hearing strange sounds issuing from within the Forbidden Meadow-moaning, disembodied voices talking, and muted whispers.
The only one of Magnolia Plantations residents to ever venture inside was Avery Rae Teecham, and she was so spooked by something she encountered in the Forbidden Meadow she vowed never, ever to return, hoping the entity she encountered would keep its distance as it had for centuries.
-Of course, she couldn’t have been more wrong!
